What Makes a Mattress Truly Organic?

Organic Mattress Requirements?
If any one of these requirements is not met the mattress is NOT organic:

- An Organic Mattress is certified.
- A traditional innerspring mattress is certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).
- A latex mattress is certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).
- A reputable authorized independent certifying organization has awarded the certification.
- Awarder and recipient must be truly independent.
- Organic audit happens annually.
- Certification is date current.
- Award status is verifiable.
- An Organic Mattress is made up of a minimum 95% certified organic components.
- Components are certified to either USDA, GOTS or GOLS.
- The 5% remaining components cannot be made from any material present on the prohibited list.
- The finished mattress has a unique serial number.
- Organic components are lot tracked at every facility.
- The mattress and its components can be traced through each process step all the way back to the field.
- Organic mattresses produced cannot exceed materials purchased.
- A total quality control (TQC) system must be in place at the manufacturing facility
- Production personnel are trained to handle organic materials.
- There is no commingling with non-organic materials during any phase of production or shipment.
